  • 5-STARS for the unit's PRIMARY purpose - battery bank - 6.5+ hours at 960ma into pure resistive load.

5-STARS for the unit's PRIMARY purpose - 'battery bank' - performs exactly as it should ...though less of a rave on some other aspects (more on that in a minute). PERFORMANCE TEST (remember everyone the 10050mah is the rating of the BATTERY INSIDE @ 3.75V - NOT the amp-hr delivered into your device @5volt). With that said, a test was run using the 2.4amp port into a pure resistive load. The unit delivered a rock-solid constant 960 ma during the entire 6.5 hours (rate determined by the value of the resistance - NOT a test of the max the unit can deliver). After 1.5 hrs the unit's LED indicators went down to 3. After 4 hours it dropped to 2. After 6 hours it dropped down to 1 LED. I ran it for an additional 30 minutes and it was still going strong with the same 5.13V output @960ma). I stopped it rather than depleting the battery further. CONCLUSION: A very respectable performance from this unit. I rate it 5-STARS. CRITICISMS: 1. The labels for the two ports (2.4A & 1A) are only located on the black rubber waterproofing seal that covers the outlets and on the rear of the unit. There are no labels at all ON THE PORTS THEMSELVES (which RAVPower has done with their other models) to show which outlet is which, plus the letters/numbers on the rubber seal are VERY tiny - no contrast in color and not terribly easy read. 2. The charge cable they provide is only 8" long - What's with that? I will say, however, that the recharge rate for the unit itself using that 8" cable was 1.60 amp vs 1.15 amp for one of the 3' cables which RAVPower sells (which are excellent cables). So, maybe using it for a faster recharge rate might actually be handy. 3. As a free extra they provide a compass/lanyard/bottle clamp/carabiner unit. It all seems very nicely made and the compass (though very small) actually appears to be liquid-filled and of reasonable quality. However, they should take note that the clip on the carabiner (which is a mere 1" away from the compass) is made of a ferrous metal, which everyone knows is not a good practice since it affects the compass' orientation. 4. The battery bank also has a built-in flashlight (or 'torch' to some). The light output of the LED is not even as bright as one of the old 'pinch-style' keychain lights that were popular twenty years ago. If that's what it was designed for (finding a door lock at very close range and such) then it is sufficient (and BTW at its rate of discharge it would probably run continuously off that battery bank for about 2 - 3 months!). In other words, do NOT count on it to light the path you may be walking along in the woods.

Another super product by Rav. I own another product from them: the [Upgraded Capacity] RAVPower 16750mAh Portable Charger Most Powerful 4.5A Output External Battery with iSmart Technology Love that one but I was always worried about hauling it around with me, now come this unit... WHOO HOO! Although the total power of the unit is noticeably less power then that of my other unit, it makes up in it's durability. A NOTE: here, everywhere the documentation says "waterproof" it's water resistant against jets of water, you CANNOT immerse it in water... Overall it's spicy, love it's size and weight. At just 7.4oz it's lighter then most other dual-port near-capacity chargers (even though it's only a 2.4A and 1.0A). And when your packing stuff over miles, "ounces are pounds and pounds are pain". Overall, I would totally recommend this unit if you hike or camp with your devices! Couple of very minor issues I found.. the outside of the case doesn't document the ports at all, in fact the "waterproof" cover has some notations on it but they are misleading... The ports are actually similar to my previous model, where the two standard size USB ports are 2.4A on the left and 1.0 amp on the right side, but the only writing on the unit (near the ports) that could indicate that is on the outside of the dust cover.. it says on the left side "IN 5V-2A" and OPEN in the middle and on the right side "OUT 2.4A/1A" So don't be confused by the cover, it's only stating that it's got 3 ports NOT the position of the ports. Another very minor issue is the "top" of the input (the round part of the micro USB is actually facing down, so it's not only different then all other units I've ever used, it's flipped from Rav's own units. Not sure why they flipped it for this unit, perhaps to keep the case small, which it is, it's just a touch bigger then a credit card and will easily fit in any pocket. Another other issue I had with it is the thinness of the cover's connection, in extreme cold (below zero) that rubber/plastic piece is likely to break off, leaving the unit w/o a cover for the ports and nullifying the IP66 rating. That leads me to the carabiner, The attached compass is a nice touch, it actually works fine, and the bottle holder is made of aluminum which also is a fine testament to the quality of products these guys at RAV makes.. but the actual carabiner is REALLY cheap, which is totally out of form for these guys, I personally threw it away, I would not hang this unit off my pack with that nor would I even hang my keys from it, in V 2.0, they should upgrade that 'biner for .20 cents :) Lastly the LED is significantly less bright as my other unit I listed, since this would be a camping / outdoor unit, a brighter light would have been better in my opinion. I know, I'm being really picky but I didn't want to say this was 5 stars and note this many issues without full disclosure, these are all very minor issues that could easily be fixed with their next gen.

This Battery bank is Excellent. It is very rugged, and is a very nice size for its capacity. I am able to charge my verizon 7" tablet from completely dead to 100% two times and it only takes just over 2 hours to charge completely from 0%. This is by far the most durable battery bank I own and Is an incredible price. This even charges my snapdragon LG G4 completely in about 40 minutes from 0%. I could not recommend this battery bank any more. You should own this if you are a person who takes these battery banks everywhere you go. Thanks RAVPower for making an incredible battery bank at an affordable price.

Was on the company website last week and they had this item on a promotional sale for a bit over $20.00. Didn't really need another external battery, but for that price, what the heck. I'll bite. (And FWIW, I was NOT asked to review this product despite it being on sale.) Impressive battery, like the other RAVPower devices I have. Has a nice heft to it and it appears like the old Timex watches in that "it'll take a licking and keep on ticking." Although, like some of the other reviews, the rubber cover to the USB ports needs a rethink. It seems to me that it'd pop loose while jostling around in your pack or bag. I'd slip a couple of rubber bands around the unit length wise just to be safe. (Although I tend to carry my electronic devices in my pack or briefcase in a ziplock bag, so it's not a deal breaker in my book.) The tech reviews seem to be spot on. Like my other RAVPower battery, this one charged my phone just as quickly as the wall charger. Based on the specs, I should be able to charge my Moto G phone a tad over 4 times, which would easily see me through a typical week. Be advised, though, that recharging the battery pack itself is a fairly time consuming process. So allow yourself some time for that. All in all, I'm happy with it. Don't forget to register your battery pack online at the company website. That will DOUBLE the warranty coverage time to 2 years. Can't beat that! Updated 5/29/16 Took this along on our recent vacation to keep our three Motorola Moto G's topped off during the day. It performed like a champ. Bought a Case Logic Battery Charger Case for Universal Smartphones/Tablets - Retail Packaging - Anthracite case to carry it in, not so much for the protection, but to carry extra cables and a RAVPower 24W 2.4A Dual USB Wall Charger with iSmart Technology, Foldable Plug, LED indicator for iPhone, iPad, Samsung, Nexus and More - Black for charging the battery at night. Along the way on the trip, we stopped at a discount store (ig ots, add a B and an L) where I picked up a 6 in 1 charging cable for $3.00. Going to pack that away in my Scouting stuff as the adults are always needing a charge and never have a cable with them. (It tickles me that a lot of the adults sit around a campfire in the middle of no-where playing on their cell phones when they can get a signal, but they won't let the Scouts use their phones until they're in their tents...) Hopefully I'll have the cable they need.

I love my RavPower charger. It's compact enough to carry in my purse. I never have to look for an outlet to charge my phone or iPad when I'm on the go. Plus this one is waterproof and rugged which means it's great to take with on motorcycle rides. I wish the outlets were labeled a little better.

The questions and answers below were created by Amazon customers, who are not affiliated or in any way officially connected with RAVPower. Please follow their advice at your own discretion.
1.How long will the battery pack hold its charge for? ? Customers are chatting about this View conversation
A: haven't checked it longer than 9 days @ 100%. could certainly go far more at reduced capacity. pack charged BBY phone 3x and bose headpeice same number of times on single load. good product but suspect "waterproof" may be overstated. awfully handy device. would order it again..
2.Does it come with the carabiner they show in the product photos? Customers are chatting about this View conversation
A: Yes..
3.Do I need to buy a lighting cable or anything with this to use it? Customers are chatting about this View conversation
A: It comes with a cable.
4.Does anyone know how to use this "bottle clamp" thing attached to the compass? Customers are chatting about this View conversation
A: I don't have an answer for you, but I can tell you that I recently used it on a 4 day bike packing trip, and it's awesome. Charged my phone 3 times, and still have 2 dots..
5.Does ig come with a charger Customers are chatting about this View conversation
A: Yes.
6.Would this work on a keychain or too heavy and bulky? Customers are chatting about this View conversation
A: You can but it would definitely be to bulky. I usually just cary it underneath my phone or in my pocket. With the charging cord hanging out plug into my phone..
7.can this charge an iphone x? Customers are chatting about this View conversation
A: It can just plug your usb cord that came with your phone into it..
8.Is it safe to use a fast charger to charge the battery? Customers are chatting about this View conversation
A: Yes, it's safe to use a fast-charge USB power source to charge this RAVPower battery. BUT don't expect this battery to charge faster than with a regular-speed charger. This battery determines its charging rate (spec'd at Max 2A @ 5V). A 2A USB charger would be faster than a 1A one. But you won't see "fast" or "quick" charging (which uses higher voltage). Expect this battery to take 4 to 8 hours to go from mostly empty to full. .
9.How many charges of a device on one charge of the pack? Customers are chatting about this View conversation
A: 2.
10.How long will the flashlight stay on when the battery is fully charged? Also how bright is it? Thanks! Customers are chatting about this View conversation
A: It's not all that bright but it will get you by in a pinch. It takes practically no amperage so I imagine it would stay on a very very long time. Days and days. Maybe even weeks of continuous usage..
